[ he's felt.. very guilty about a lot of things over the millennia since taking the throne inside yggdrasil. he's had plenty of time to consider his wrongs, particularly against his own brother.
here, it's worse somehow. after all, technically this thor has--had--another loki. a loki that had betrayed him numerous times, but who had eventually reconciled with him, had remained at his side at the end.. had been killed trying to protect him.
loki isn't sure he really has the right to step into that place in any meaningful way, and he's not really sure what thor thinks of his presence here. they haven't talked about it. he's not even sure if thor realizes he's not his own loki. maybe he thinks that his brother's death was just another trick. .. he deserves to know the truth about his loki, though, and he deserves.. for his brother to be there for him. ]
.. Thor. [ he hesitates for several moments, then clears his throat. ] I know that we've been dancing around it--a bit literally, in fact--but we ought to talk.
[It's exceedingly complicated for Thor, who still mourns his Loki deeply. He feels incredibly protective of the vacant place he's left, but he also can't fight the parts of him drawn to either of the Lokis who have made their way here. He supposes it might be because even if he's not their Thor, he'd like to think most Thors would hope for someone to keep an eye on their Loki.
Though he's heard middling reviews of himself in other worlds. Some Thors lose their way, which is also weirdly comforting to a Thor currently living in limbo.
Of course, it wouldn't be Loki if there weren't some smoke and mirrors and hundreds of years of his brother's gaslighting and girlbossing has made Thor struggle to trust any conclusion he comes to. But he dwells in that state, because Schroginger's Loki is better than what he's sure will be an upsetting truth.
And despite all of that, his voice is painfully affectionate when he responds.]
I see what you did there. [And he won't let it slide. His voice takes a serious tone, but there's still affection in it.]
Mm. Probably. [And he pauses for a long time before he adds something more helpful.] Would you like to... do it in person? Or is this better for you?
[ the distance is much easier. he's already accepted that he's been isolated so long at this point that he gets.. overwhelmed. overstimulated. he's not used to interacting anymore, he's not used to someone hearing when he speaks, much less answering.
this isn't really about him, though. (and if he's honest with himself, which happens reliably more often than one would expect of the average loki, he does want to touch his brother, to grasp his hand or his shoulder again and feel that he's still there.) ]
If you don't mind.. I think in person might be best. [ a beat. ] Though of course I'll keep my distance if you'd prefer.
